Jellyfish Population Rapidly Exploding
We always read about species getting extinct or endangered due to global warming. But climate change can also have a different effect on certain species, like jellyfish, whose population is rapidly exploding.
Human activities like overfishing, pollution, introductions of non-native species and the presence of artificial structures, such as oil and gas rigs could be responsible for the flourish in jellyfish swarms, both in size and numbers.
To such an extent that sometimes they form swarms of hundreds of millions of organisms. These squishy creatures are nice to look at, but they can create lot of havoc for humans as well as vulnerable creatures.
