Rare Amur tigers starve to death in Chinese zoo

rare Amur tigers died

A total of 13 rare Amur tigers have died of hunger in the past three months in a northeastern Chinese zoo,

The zoo administration, which faced financial troubles, could provide its animals only with chicken bones.

After the hungry animals attacked a zoo worker, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries, the local administration allocated additional money to help the starving tigers.

However, the predators died of intestinal infections and irreversible kidney damage.
