World's largest barbecue - the ‘God-grilla’

World's largest BBQ 'God-grilla' that can cook 1,000 sausages at once An engineer has spent three months and £10,000 creating the world's largest barbecue which weighs two tonnes and measures a whopping 16ft across.

The gargantuan BBQ - understandably dubbed 'God-grilla' - is so big makers say it could be used to simultaneously cook 1,000 sausages, 500 burgers or (if you prefer) two whole cows.

It's the brainchild of 31-year-old Jack Henriques who runs the Bespoke BBQ Company and says he already has plans to make a bigger one.

However you might want to think about it before ordering one to outdo your neighbours… it takes 14 bags of coal to ignite and can heat up to 500 degrees centigrade.

Speaking of the big BBQ, Jack said: "The BBQ is fitted with hinged panels at the back to allow access to add more logs to the fire.

"It is fitted with seven separate coal trays and has the capacity to cook seven whole lambs at once."

While the God-grilla is the largest fixed barbecue in the world, there is truck in the US called the Big Taste Grill which has been converted into a touring BBQ.

Human Domino World Record

The world's longest human domino chain 10,267 Chinese students smash human domino Guinness World Record It might look like all these people have fallen asleep out of boredom, but these Chinese students are taking part in a human domino challenge.

More than 10,000 students took part in the unusual activity, which smashed the Guinness World Record of 9,234 students set in Singapore in 2000.

Themed on 'hug the nature, kiss the grasslands', the aim of the event was to encourage Chinese citizens to take part in more exercise.

Chinese basketball star Mengke Bateer threw a basketball to the first student in the line who became the first human domino in the challenge.

The event took place in Ordos, in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, northern China, earlier today.

The 10,267 students broke the record in one hour and 10 minutes, authorised by certified officers of Guinness World Record headquarters.

World's Largest Lederhosen Record

If you're a larger gentleman Lederhosen , it can sometimes be hard finding a decent pair of Lederhosen that fit properly. Fortunately, one Austrian lederhosen maker has created a pair that you should be able to fit in comfortably.

Tailor Walter Sinnhofer is claiming a new world record for producing the world's largest pair of the traditional leather shorts.

The lederhosen in question are over 15ft long and four yards wide, and took Sinnhofer two months to cut and stitch from 77 square yards of cow hide. They weigh a hefty 50kg.

Now Sinnhofer of Henndorf, Austria, is hoping that Guinness World Records will officially Recognise his achievement in the field of massive lederhosen manufacture and declare them the world's largest pair.

He already has form in the record-breaking lederhosen game, as five years ago Guinness awarded him the record for producing the smallest pair of lederhosen, which were just 38 millimeters long.

World's Largest Smelliest Plant Blooms

World's largest, smelliest plant blooms in Houston, Lois the corpse flower, came in bloom Saturday in the U.S. fourth largest city, attracting thousands of curious Houstonians a day.

Now nearly six feet (1.8288 meters) tall, the flower, technically known as the Amorphophallus titanium plant, was the second corpse flower that ever bloomed in Texas and the 29th corpse flower that did so in the United States, said the Houston Museum of Nature Science, owner of the plant.

The flower, nicknamed Lois after a staffer's mother, has been in the museum for six years, since the museum paid 75 dollars for a tuber from a U.S. nursery, said Nancy Greig, director of Cockrell Butterfly Center of the Museum.

The plant is so special because it's totally unpredictable, said Greig. No one knows what triggers a corpse flower to bloom and no one knows when it will bloom in its about forty years of lifetime, she said.

The museum had predicited that Lois would bloom two weeks ago.

The line to see the flower was out the door Friday morning, once word got out that it would bloom soon.

The flower gives off smell like decomposed animals to attract insects, Greig said. It can be in bloom for a few days, but may not bloom for years --if ever.

Corpse flowers, with the largest unbranched inflorescence and one of the endangered species in the world, are native to Indonisia's Sumatra and can grow to be 10 feet (3.048 meters) tall. The tallest corpse flower was recorded in Germany.

World's Tallest Couple

With a combined height of more than 13ft, this is the world's tallest married couple.

But if Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton and his wife Keisha's two children keep growing they may end up with the world's tallest family title too.

Son Lucas, four, is already 3ft 11in - the height of a seven-year-old - and daughter Eva, two, is 3ft, the typical height of a three-year-old.

Being tall has had its up and downs for the Kleef-Boltons. When the couple first married - he's 7ft and she's 6ft 5in - they had some lofty ambitions, not least raising the doorframes in their home to stop them clipping their heads.

That issue is yet to be resolved and the couple still have a bedroom that is only big enough for a standard double bed, forcing them to sleep with their feet hanging out.

On the bright side, Mr Kleef-Bolton-29, says his height makes his work as a security guard at Barking and Dagenham College in Essex, significantly easier. 'Being this size and 18-and-a-half stone means it's no problem to pull two kids apart if they're fighting,' he said.

He also said students often compared him to England footballer Peter Crouch.

He said: 'If only I could play football like him. And with 40-ins legs like this I can get anywhere faster than anyone else.

'But of course I have to get my uniform custom-made. And finding a good pair of shoes that fit is really difficult.'

Dutch-born Mr Kleef-Bolton has to go to specialist websites that normally supply American basketball players to order the size 15 shoes he wears

His wife, 31, said her biggest problem was finding clothes large enough for her and her 38 in legs, even though she is a healthy size 12.

'I use normal women's dresses as shirts because they come up so short,' she said.

'But we both accepted our height years ago. There's not a lot you can do about it. Flying on budget airlines with no legroom is a problem too.

'And of course we get a lot of attention when we're out. But there are perks - I never have to use a stepladder to reach the top shelf.'

Mr Kleef-Bolton was referred to a specialist when he was ten and stood at 5ft 10in - the height of the average man in the UK. He was told he was naturally tall, rather than suffering from a medical condition.

He was started on hormone injections two years later because of concerns his knee joints might eventually give way under the weight of his body and he finally stopped growing aged 16.

His wife said she suffered from jokes at school about her height and had to stop wearing high heels when she was 18 and her shoe size went past an eight.

The Guinness World Record holders met when Mr Kleef-Bolton responded to her advert for a dance partner on a website for tall people, saying: 'I'm 7ft. Is that tall enough?'

Describing their wedding, he said: 'The staff at the register office agreed we were the perfect match.'

Mrs Kleef-Bolton, who had to wear men's clothing when she was pregnant because there weren't any maternity outfits big enough, said she and her husband would like to have more children.

'We think four is the ideal number but we think we can wait until these two are a bit bigger. Looking at them, it won't take that long,' she added.

World's Biggest Bowl Of Porridge

A new world record for the biggest bowl of porridge has been set at the annual Cupar Highland Games in Fife.

The huge breakfast of 690 litres of porridge which was cooked up could feed 2,000 people and was more than double the existing record.

Local firefighters added water from their fire engine to 80kg of oats, before the mixture was heated and cooked for several hours.

The record was confirmed by an official from Guinness World Records.

The attempt used a specially-made bowl measuring 1.5m in height and width, which was transported by a forklift truck for measuring.

According to the organisers of the attempt, the previous record was 300 litres.

Craig Manson, chairman of Cupar Round Table, which runs the Highland Games, said it had been a very exciting and ambitious challenge.

"We have achieved our goal of breaking the record and put Cupar back on the map," he added.

Official adjudicator Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief of Guinness World Records Book, added it was "unlikely" the new record would be broken soon.

The oats were provided by Scott's Porage Oats from their Cupar factory.

World's biggest gold coin sold

A Spanish precious metals trading company bought the world's largest gold coin Record Ever for £2.68 million, its exact material worth, from the estate of an insolvent investment firm at a rare auction in Vienna on Friday.

The 220.5 lb piece, one of only five Canadian $1,000,000 Maple Leaf coins the Royal Canadian Mint has ever produced, was snapped up immediately in a written bid from ORO direct, a gold trading company based in Madrid.

There were no counter offers in an auction room packed with more journalists than potential buyers. It sold for the catalogue sum, the coin's pure gold value based on Friday's market price. This was four times its face value.

Auction workers present the largest gold coin in the world - a 100kg Canadian $1,000,000 Maple Leaf - during its auction in Vienna

The auction was ordered by the administrator of Austrian investment group AvW Invest, which filed for insolvency in May after its owner and chief executive was arrested on suspicion of fraud, breach of trust and other charges.

AvW had acquired the coin in 2007, joining an exclusive club of owners including Queen Elizabeth, who is also displayed on one side of the coin, two unidentified investors in Dubai and one who is so reclusive even his or her residence is unknown.

AvW had lent its coin, 21 inches in diameter and 1 inch thick, to Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum where it had been on display as part of its coin collection.

Its purity is 99.999 percent, the purest type in the market.

The Royal Canadian Mint launched the coin in 2007 to showcase its production facilities and steal the entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the world's biggest gold coin.

That title had previously been held by the Austrian mint, who in 2004 produced fifteen 100,000-euro coins weighing 1,000 troy ounces to celebrate the 15th anniversary of its best-selling Philharmonics coin.
