Worlds Most Incredible Face Paintings

A man of many faces, artist James Kuhn creates some of the most incredible and bizarre masks ever seen. The eccentric face painter calls his creations "self-portraits" because he uses his own face as the canvas for his artwork.

The 46-year old artist is halfway through his project to create a design for his face every day for a year, which he began in March after he was snowed in by 12 inches of snow and had to miss work.

James got the inspiration from photo exhibitions of a picture a day. His 365 creations range from cartoon characters and animals to his favorite foods.

"I really have become totally obsessed with face painting and I think about what I can do next all the time." James says on his blog.

The artist says the worst part is painting the inside of his nostrils, as he ends up spitting them for hours.

He says he's been an artist all his life, and even drew pictures in his oatmeal as a child.

Corn on the cob.

Kuhn uses real popcorn to add more realism to his popcorn box creation.

The Picasso of face painting has plastered his mug with a menagerie of images including Tweety Bird, King Kong, movie monster Hannibal Lector, zebras, and leopards.

But perhaps most striking are those of food — transforming his face into a giant box of pop corn, a cheeseburger, pineapple, frozen TV dinner, shish-kebabs, and even a cornucopia.

“I saw other 365’s but they are self-indulgent or just plain silly.” said James. “I wanted to take it to a higher level.”

“Face painting is the most exciting thing that has happened to me in a long while!”

Based out of Three Oaks, Michigan, US, James takes his inspiration from anything, including children’s games, and loves to paint on everything, including flesh.

Kuhn does his own take on Mickey Mouse but on the theme of oranges.

“Art should never be a product.” says James. “It should be a gift of love and a prayer. Art is silly, and fun, and can be powerful and sacred.”

“I do show in galleries, but selling should never be your motivation for creating art.

Guinness World Record for the largest one day open-air barbecue

Surpassing anything remotely close to your typical Hungry Man’s Meal, ravenous participants in Paraguay have broken the Guinness World Record for the largest one day open-air barbecue.

Worlds Largest Barbecue World Record

More than 30,000 people grilled their way into history on October 26th to devour 61,600 pounds (28,000 kilos) of meat over the course of 6 hours to create the world’s largest barbecue in the Mariano Roque Alonso township located on the outskirts of Asuncion.

To set a Guinness World Record, the entire bovine should be eaten in less than 8 hours. Bloated participants made short work of the feat in record timing, consuming an average of more than 2 pounds per person.

Volunteer barbecue masters built fires covering a massive area 197 feet (60 meters) wide by 328 feet (100 meters) long, about the size of a football field.

Known locally as “Todo bicho que camina va al asador,” the event name translates into English as “Every critter walking goes to the barbecue.”

Beef cattle are a mainstay of Paraguay’s economy, but the barbecue was held in solidarity for women victims of mistreatment and children who suffer from leukemia, with funds raised from the $3 entrance fee.

“All of the food that was there was eaten. It’s the largest quantity of meat that has been eaten at one event held on one day.” said the judge, Ralph Hannah.

“It’s an official record, a Guinness World Record, and Paraguay will be in the next edition.” he added.

In achieving the ‘Largest Barbecue in the World,’ the Paraguayan town shatters the previous record, an 8-hour eat-a-thon of 21,700 kilos that took place in Philadelphia in 1996.
