Young Russian politicians to play football to win cow
Leaders of Russian political youth organizations will play football to try to win a cow, ruling United Russia party supporters said Thursday.
"We decided to support the initiative of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to hold a football world cup in Russia, and we are arranging a tournament with the participation of leaders of Russia's largest youth organizations," Dmitry Nosov, head of United Russia's commission on youth affairs, said.
Participants include young teams from the ruling party and other parties, including Liberal Democrats, Yabloko, A Just Russia, the movements Nashi (Ours), Mestniye (Locals) and Young Russia, and students.
"The final match will take place on June 26 and will be opened by State Duma Speaker Boris Gryzlov. The winner will receive a cow," organizers said by RIA Novosti

A family in Colorado will never again have to worry about toilet breaks on the road after designing a twin-bowl toilet car.
It took four years and three prototypes for Dave Hersch to perfect his design, inspired by a small 'Hot Wheels' toy car.
It features a 6.5hp motor capable of driving two adults at 30mph and holds six toilet rolls and a magazine rack.
Dave told Rex: "The first version was literally a toilet on top of a go cart. It didn't last past the first turn. The toilet slid off and broke into a million pieces on the road. Porcelain is very fragile I have learned.
"The second version was still a single toilet but had some features like a bolted down toilet, brakes, and a toilet seat. That version didn't make it past the first ride by my friend who flipped it and broke the toilet again."
"Finally the current model was built to be foolproof. Adults take photos and kids jump up and down with excitement. It's a great way to meet all the people in my neighbourhood without all the typical grown-up formalities."

Kratzer started mid-wall, with the Salon by Picasso. Then he thought, well, taking a design out to the edge of the wall wouldn't be overwhelming.

Kratzer's basement suggests that the great cultural influences wandered out of college humanities class — here a Churchill for eloquence during harsh times, a Joan Crawford for cinematic vampiness, Holmes and Poirot for great literary characterization — and set up shop together in the carefully hand-drawn markings of an educated imagination come to life.
Kratzer might be a lawyer by day, but in his off hours he is a man who has taken the artistic influences and heroes of his life and imagined them onto his walls, that he might keep company with them while he uses the pool table.
Look carefully in this basement o' dreams and you'll see a drawing of the Kratzers' upstairs library — with Claude Monet, the greatest of the Impressionists, at the doorway. It's a tribute to Monet, but it's also a way of living with cultural influences: Kratzer and his wife, Deb, don't just keep them within book covers or admire them in museums. Their Picasso spends each day close to their pinball machine. Agatha Christie's shrewd little Belgian detective and his carefully pruned mustache hover over the deck door.
From the main floor leading down to the basement, there is a color mural inspired by Picasso's The Dream.
But through most of the spacious basement there is black line-drawing — around the pinball machine and the pool table and over the bathtub and toilet.
Why the black marker theme? Says Kratzer: "You can do a lot with it."

Kratzer likes the Impressionists, but he's also inspired by Picasso — in particular the artist's ability to convey a lot of information with just a few lines. Crocodile Suite – Hisako Matsumoto
The artists who came out last year, Hisako Matsumoto (松元久子) must be one of my favorites, and apparently I am not alone, since I have seen her work exhibited twice so far. As her graduation piece she created this crocodile costume, crocodile suit, complete with crocodile helmet and crocodile boots, in ceramics. Sometimes art just comes together like this, craft and concept, hand and brains. On Time Out Tokyo she gives a little bit more background on the inspiration behind this piece. Even if you can’t read Japanese you can have a look at the photo of her (she has a smile worthy of a cover model).
The more I see coming out from Tama Art University, the more I am convinced that this must be one of the best art universities in the world. This piece was even featured in Nikkei (one of the most artless business newspapers in the world). As a final trivia, I found out while googling her name that it’s the 801622nd most popular name in Japan. Who would have known?
