Coffee Cup Sized is Revealed

Some people like a big cup of coffee in the morning to wake them up. But not usually this big -- this is the world's biggest mug of java.

The 8 foot tall cup contains a massive 2,010 gallons of freshly brewed coffee - that's the same as 32,160 regular cups.

It took a team of people more than eight hours to brew all the coffee required, who were in turn powered by several cups of coffee.

The previous Guinness World Record for largest cup of coffee was set in 2007 at just 911.5 gallons… that's now a medium a Starbuck.

But the record breakers didn't stop there. They then added 3,500 pounds of enormous ice cubes to also set the record for the world's largest cup of iced coffee too.

A spokesperson for GourmetGiftBaskets.com which set the records said: "We wanted to break both records because we had this massive cup and thought, 'We'd be crazy not to'.

Madeleine McGregor, who jumped into the filled cup added: "It was a wild experience. Hopping into a frigid cup of iced coffee was one of the most exhilarating experiences, and a once in a lifetime opportunity."

Contest for the Criminally Beautiful

It's the beauty contest where nervous judges are likely to get an offer they can't refuse - Miss Mafia 2010.

Contestants for the pageant in Budapest, Hungary, must either have mob connections or convictions for crimes that have earned them time behind bars.

Judges have already selected the four Mafia molls who will compete for the title in next month's grand final.

One of the favourites is Alexa Diamond, a PA to a Hungarian mafia boss and serving three years on probation, who said: "Here, it is only your beauty that counts and your record doesn't count against you for once."

Rival Beata Kalman added: "I'm glad to get through but the party could have been better. I know, because I deal with drugs and party organisers all the time."

Ruthless Clara Daak - who has done time for property fraud - told judges she wouldn't be seeking world peace or helping children if she won the title.

"My hobby is collecting property leases from losers," she said.

Porn star Aletta Ocean, who pleaded guilty to indecency in a public place, added: "I know I could never stay good long enough for a straight beauty contest so this is perfect for me."

The winner of the finals will win a car and Budapest apartment, and go on to the Miss Mafia Universe contest in an international showdown hosted by Japan's Yakuza.

7 Biggest Fashion Trends of the Past 70 Years

The 7 Biggest Fashion Trends of the Past 70 Years

There are reasons some era-defining fashion trends become great Halloween costumes (poodle skirts, anyone?) while others become classics. Here, seven style hits that have withstood the test of time.

The ’30s trend: LBDs

When Coco Chanel debuted the little black dress in 1926, it wasn’t (shock!) an instant hit—black had previously been reserved for clergy or people in mourning. It wasn’t until the Great Depression in the ’30s that women saw the genius of a simple dress you could get cheap and that would never go out of style. The rest is fashion-emergency history.

The ’40s trend: menswear

We can thank Katherine Hepburn for working sleek pants into the Hollywood-approved wardrobe. In masculine trousers and shirts, she proved it was possible to look glamorous and be comfortable at the same time. The newest way to wear Hepburn-esque trousers? Mix in girly stuff, like ruffled blouses, big necklaces or cocktail rings.

The ’50s: pencil skirts

The best reason to adore Dior: The French designer created the pencil skirts popularized by the era’s stylish First Lady, Jackie Kennedy. The silhouette still flatters all shapes—it sleek-ifies hips! it elongates legs!—making it a fashion no-brainer.

The ’60s: minis

British designer Mary Quant’s shorter-than-ever-before skirts captured the rebellious spirit of the decade—and quickly became a favorite of stylish young women on both sides of the pond. Though fashionable hemlines have been on a roller coaster ever since (midthigh to ankle to knee-length), a cute mini with a pair of black tights will be forever chic.

The ’70s trend: platform shoes

First introduced in the ’40s, the style exploded in the’70s when even men’s soles soared to airy, disco-ready heights. The best of today’s styles have none of that decade’s unwieldy chunkiness but all the height-giving sexiness that made us love them in the first place.

The ’80s trend: sexy jeans

When the hot model of the decade Brooke Shields breathily declared, “Nothing comes between me and my Calvins,” jeans suddenly went from sporty weekend wear to glam wardrobe staple.

The ’90s trend: minimalism

Sensory overload from the neon and Lycra of the’80s had designers in the early’90s offering sleek, neutral-tone fashions. Though other trends made a splash throughout the decade—grunge, Goth, hip-hop—it’s this less-is-more vibe that’s lasted.

Taiwan woman 'marries' herself

A Taiwanese woman said Sunday she had "married" herself by throwing a wedding banquet.

The 30-year-old Chen Wei-yi, who has been an Internet sensation since announcing her "wedding" plans last month, held the ceremony in a Taipei hotel Saturday witnessed by 30 relatives and friends.

"Marrying myself is a way of showing that I am confident and upbeat and that I accept myself for who I am," said Chen, who is an office worker.

"We must love ourselves before we can love others. I must marry myself before marrying the special someone," she told AFP.

Chen's supporters have hailed the move as "creative," with some suggesting a group wedding for those who wanted to "marry" themselves, according to her Facebook page.

Taiwanese authorities have said that many women now choose to marry at an older age or to stay single, which is seen as a major factor causing the island's birth rates to dwindle to one of the world's lowest.

A record low 117,000 Taiwanese couples tied the knot in 2009, down nearly a quarter on the previous year, according to government figures.
