Ancient History Is So Fascinating | Civilizations Facts

From China and Egypt to Rome and Greece, these ancient history facts are too raunchy, outrageous, and weird for any textbook you've ever read.

Banwol Island: An Instagrammable Purple Island in South Korea

Purple Island in South Korea

Say hello to Banwol Island, also known as half-moon island! Situated in Sinan-gun, a beautiful county in South Jeolla province, this charming island is definitely a sight to behold. In August 2019, the South Jeolla provincial government and Sinan County planned to transform two neighbouring islands, Banwol Island and Parkji Island into purple islands complete with beautiful flowers and crops in matching colours! These islands are connected via a bridge, which makes a great opportunity for visitors to appreciate the scenic seascape too.

The county had planted 40,000 lavender around the island as well as white cedar, empress trees and other purple flowers for this transformation. Overall, the village on Banwol Island certainly lives up to its aesthetics. Take a walk to spot residential homes, bridges, streets, food trucks, sidewalks all painted in purple!

If you're interested to explore more parts of the island, you can rent a bicycle for KRW5,000 per person or spend a night in a local homestay for approximately KRW50,000 per night.

Today, although travel is banned all over the world due to the Corona epidemic, but as soon as the ban is lifted, the "purple island" will be ready for tourists from all over the world.

Fire rainbows occur only when the sun is very high in the sky (more than 58° above the horizon). What's more, the hexagonal ice crystals that make up cirrus clouds must be shaped like thick plates with their faces parallel to the ground.

Kids Who Look like Their Parents | Parent-Child Look Alike Copy-Paste Versions

Kids Who Look like Their Parents | Parent-Child Look Alike Copy-Paste Versions

They could be photos of the same children, but extraordinarily, these are snapshots of parents next to their kids when they were the same age. In the case of the girls, it's hard to believe they inherited any genetic material at all from their fathers, or that any of the father-clones had any genetic input from their mothers. While the blending of our genes is a fairly complicated matter, a first rule of thumb is that the genes we inherit from our parents depends on which has the more dominant one.

For example, if a mother is a natural blonde and the father has dark hair, their child is more likely to have dark hair, since the gene for dark hair is dominant over the gene for blonde. It is rare for one parent to possess such a large proportion of dominant genes over their partner, as is seen in these cases.

Couple Transforms Old Bus into Mobile Home | School Bus Home

Robbie and Priscilla chose the school bus rather than, for example, an RV, because they were planning to spend the next couple of years traveling and wanted their new home on wheels to look and feel like a tiny house. “We love tiny homes and admire the lifestyle of those who live in them so we thought, ‘Why not build one on wheels?'”. “We even added an actual house door to give it that welcoming look.”

“Another reason is that we wanted it to be completely off-grid and customized to our needs. Some of the features that we have which are not found in your typical RV/motorhome are a wood-burning stove, real brick wall, completely solar, real quartz countertops, real tiles, real glass shower door, and more. Also, school buses are designed safer than RVs in the event of an accident.”
