Clothes Made Out of Human Hair | Human Hair Dress

A hairdresser has created a dress made entirely from human hair which was worn by a beauty queen on the catwalk of the Miss England final.

Jodie Breeds created the eco-friendly frock using hair donated from her own clients and hair extensions. The coiffured creation was then worn by Miss England finalist Holly Lyons, 18, in the environmentally friendly dress round of this year’s Miss England contest. Holly was competing in the beauty pageant under the name of Jodie’s salon in Sunderland, Miss 24 Carat. Jodie came up with the unusual dress idea as she contemplated how to represent her hair salon in the Miss England contest.

She was able to bring it to fruition with the help of her aunt, a dressmaker. She said: 'My business is about hair and beauty so I wanted to represent what we’re about here. So I designed a hair dress, I sketched out the design and my aunty, Margaret Jenner, who's a dressmaker, made it. It took about six hours altogether.'

The dress is made from hair donated by the salon's clients and about 10 rows of hair extensions. Even though she didn’t win the Miss England crown, which was won by Charlotte Holmes, Holly certainly turned heads in the hair-raising dress.

Jodie said: 'It got an amazing reaction on the catwalk at Miss England. Everyone kept coming up to us afterwards and saying they had never seen anything like it. 'I think I’m going to put it up in the salon now as everyone keeps asking to see it. It’s definitely put my salon on the map.' But how does it feels to wear? Could it actually be comfortable? 'Holly like wearing it, she said it felt really silky,' said Jodie.
