Guirec Soudée Adventure - Travels The World With His Chicken

Guirec Soudée Adventure - Travels The World With His Chicken

Guirec Soudée is a French sailor, born in 1992. He is particularly known for his media coverage during his 5-year journey around the world accompanied by his hen Monique. There's an Instagram for everything from hot guys with coffee to hot guys on the Paris Metro, but we had yet to see one dedicated to hot guys with farm animals in exotic locations.

Filling that particular niche is Guirec Soudée, whose Instagram is dedicated to him and his pet chicken Monique traveling the world.Soudée told Cosmopolitan he's been sailing around the world with his unconventional pet for two years. You can find them walking through the snow, basking in the sun, and sailing in the ocean. Their adventures are all clearly catalogued with hashtags like #chicken and #Monique.

She follows me everywhere, and doesn't create any problems. All I need to do is shout 'Monique!'" he told Cosmopolitan. Next, they're headed to Alaska. After that, they're not sure yet. "We haven't talked about it yet, but we will," he said. "We talk a lot, Monique and I." Who is this person? I want to marry him. With the understanding, of course, that he's a package deal.

At 18, Guirec left the island where he grew up, off the coast of Plougrescant in the Côtes d'Armor, for Australia. He arrives there penniless and sleeps in the street until he finds a job as a fisherman aboard a large shrimp boat. When he raised the funds, he cycled 2,000 km to "discover the country" . He returns with his savings and buys his sailboat, he has never sailed in a habitable sailboat but wants to go to the other side of the oceans. In 2013, at the age of 21 aboard Yvinec, his small 11-meter steel boat of the same name as the island that "made" him as he says, he began his first solo transatlantic, or almost. . Stopover in the Canarieshe meets Monique, a red hen who becomes his teammate.

The first step in a highly publicized epic, he made a stopover in the West Indies to work and save again in view of the solidification project for the hull of his boat. After a 130-day wintering period, imprisoned in the ice of Greenland , at the age of 24 he became the youngest navigator to cross the Northwest Passage . It crosses the Pacific from North to South, rubs against the extreme latitudes of the Great South and joins Antarctica. Before starting his long ascent to Brittany, in three transatlantic races, he came close to disaster on several occasions. In turn trapped by storms facing entire swathes of drifting Antarctica, then during a turnaround from which he miraculously emerges.
